RIP Queen of Disco

Donna Summer, the anointed Queen of Disco, just passed away from cancer at the age of 63. I, like many of my generation, came of age to disco music. After the tumultuous years of the Vietnam War disco music was and is all about fun.

Of course the pundits at the time called us selfish because we wanted to just enjoy life. We didn't march, protest or cause trouble. No sit-ins. No attacking the police. No assaulting the troops. We honestly went to college to get {{{gasp}}} an education, pledge fraternities or sororities, maybe even go to a football game or two and cheer on our school team......As my parents remarked one day...."its nice to actually see kids acting like kids again".....that was the disco era...people allowed themselves to be happy.

It all began with the movie, Thank God It's Friday.....

Requiscate en Pace Donna. Your voice brought us alot of joy.

Qi en Pace,

Elise
