Shirley Temple RIP

Today an icon of American heritage has passed away. Shirley Temple, best known for her childhood stardom during the depression, died today at the age of 85. Her smile, impish grin and general joyful demeanor helped this nation through one of its most darkest hours.

She left the film industry as an adult,  only to reemerge as an active member of the Republican party. She was elected to Congress, was appointed an Ambassador for the United States and Chief of Protocol for the White House.

Read her extensive biography HERE.

Shirley Temple represented sweetness and the goodness that America had felt that it lost during those awful years of the depression. Personally I think our society could do with a little more innocence and a lot less of the vulgar porn-parade that passes for entertainment today.
